December 2012 just marks the date of the end of a 23~24 year cycle that the calender has. For each of those cycles it has a saying for it, the saying does allure you something bad, but it isn't the end of the calender, the Mayan Calender is round, thus having no end.

Well apparently something big is going to happen, like changing of polaritys in the north and south pole which is going to cause tons of moving in the plate tectonics resulting in massive earthquakes, tidal waves and volcanic eruptions.

Or worse, Earth to stop spinning which causes us to get pushed away or sucked into the sun due to magnetic forces.
